KHALID AHMED, N V V S D PRASAD
Abstract
Field experiments were conducted during 2005-06 and 2006-07 to test the bioefficacy of lufenuron 5 EC along with other insecticides against thrips, Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood and pod borer, Spodoptera litura Fab. on chillies. Fipronil 5 SC 50 g ai/ ha was the most effective insecticide for thrips followed by lufenuron 5 EC @ 30 g ai/ha and 25 g ai/ha. Lufenuron 5 EC @ 25 g ai/ha, 30 g ai/ha and thiodicarb 75 SP @ 750 g ai/ha were effective in reducing the pod damage by effectively suppressing the population of S. litura on chillies. Lufenuron 5 EC @ 25 g ai/ha and 30 g ai/ha resulted in higher yields by effectively checking the damage due to thrips and pod borer.
