Effect of abiotic factors on the incidence of litchi leaf roller, Dudua aprobola Meyrick (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) in Bihar

Abstract


India is the second largest producer of litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonnerat) after China with a total production of 423 thousand metric tons with an area of 72 thousand hectares. The commercial cultivation is mainly concentrated in Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam, Tripura and Punjab. However, Bihar enjoys the monopoly in quality and quantity, as nearly 75 per cent of the total production comes from this state from only 47 per cent of the total cultivated area.
